Contacts Are Not For Everyone, Just Most People
You can make an effective argument that contact lenses are not for everyone. To some extent that may be true. But, they are far more comfortable than glasses and allow wearers to lead far more active lifestyles. That’s an immediate boon. The only major drawback is keeping them clean. To be sure, it’s a cleaning ritual that can make potential contact wearers give pause. Asking tired people to stop and clean is asking a lot.
It’s a drawback, OK. But this is were daily disposable contact lenses come into play. These disposables are relatively inexpensive to manufacture. This means you would pay the same amount for regular lenses as you would for a six-month supply of disposables. The concept is as radical as it is simple and to the point. This can make a significant financial difference for some people, especially those who have sensitive eyes. Factoring in the cost of cleaning solution and the added cost of disposables starts to make sense.
The best part about wearing disposables is the cleaning. Or lack thereof. Since they are indeed disposable, these contacts don’t have to be cleaned and they don’t have to be taken off before bed. Of course, this is not a great solution, especially for people with sensitive eyes. It is the sensitivity that can lead to infections, not necessarily the contacts. The best course of action is to just take them out and dispose of them before falling asleep.
Comfort is king when it comes to contacts. As they’re only worn once (or so), disposable lenses tend to be much thinner, more gas-permeable, and therefore more comfortable. Indeed some people with terribly sensitive eyes are often pointed in the direction of disposable lenses as they have an unmatched capacity to allow oxygen to reach the eye. Their thin, delicate structure is far from ideal for contacts if they you’re your only pair. But with a six-month supply of disposables, their thinness is an asset.
If you’re keen on saving money and saving time, disposable lenses are a terrific value. The cleaning ritual and paying for solution has kept some people from ditching their specs. With the superior comfort and convenience of disposable lenses, there are few reasons, if any, to not spend on a six-month supply.
Nothing compares to a pair of daily disposable contact lenses. They never have to be cleaned, they can be worn to bed, and you never have to think twice — just dispose of once.
